The Marine Corps League was founded by Major General John A. LeJeune and subsequently chartered by an act of Congress in 1937. Throughout the years, Marines both young and old have become members to fulfill the mission of the League. To paraphrase that purpose: (a) preserve the traditions and to promote the interests of the United States Marine Corps: (b) to band those who are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and those who have been honorably discharged from that service together in fellowship that they may effectively promote the ideals of American Freedom and Democracy. To put it quite simply, “We are here to honor, respect and assist all past, present and future Marines and the country we love.”
