ON GOING - There is a project in the works to erect a statue of LtGen Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller on the grounds of the National Marine Corps Museum. This will be the first ever done to honor one of the greatest Marines to ever wear our uniform. The "Chesty" Puller Statue Fund is looking for donations for this statue. - 9/8/2010 - The Marine Corps Coordinating Council will hold their monthly meeting at Marine Corps Recruiting Station Headquarters Chicago, 1700 S. Wolf Road, Des Plaines. Meeting called to order at 1900.
- 9/11/2010 - Rededication Ceremony of the Foster Avenue 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve Center Memorial honoring our Fallen Comrades of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The ceremony will begin at 1400 at The Joseph J. McCarthy Reserve Center, 3034 W. Foster Avenue, Chicago, IL 60626. Due to the solemn nature of this rededication, it is by invitation and RSVP only, it is not open to the public.
- 9/12/2010 (Tentative Date) - The 1st Annual Chicago Kilt Run (5K)to benefit the Chicago Police Memorial Fund, The Natasha McShane Fund and the Hiberians will begin and end at Trinity Pub, 5943 N. Northwest Highway. More info to come.

- 9/17-19/2010 There will be a "Gathering of Veteran's Pow Wow" at the Seven Circles Heritage Center located on Rt. 8, Edwards IL - Exit 82 from I-74 west of Peoria. Please CLICK HERE for the informational flyer.
- 9/25/2010 - The joint Installation of the Dixon Area Detachment and the Dixon Area Unit, M.C.L.A. will be held at the Dixon VFW, Dixon, IL on the 25th of September, 2010. We hope you all can join us for our 52nd Installation of Officers! Social hour at 1700, Dinner at 1800 and Installation at 1900. Dinner cost is $12.00 per person.
- 10/02/2010 - Joint installation of officers for the DeKalb County Marines Detachment #847 and Auxiliary Unit will be held at the Sandwich VFW Post, 713 S. Main St. Sandwich, IL 60548. The installation of officers will serve as the entertainment/hospitality room for 2nd Staff. There will be no hospitality room at the hotel for those attending 2nd staff. Meal provided, cash bar, 1730 cocktails, 1830 dinner, 1930 installation ceremony. - 10/2-3/2010 - The DeKalb County Marines will be hosting the 2nd Staff conference in Sandwich Illinois at the Best Western Timber Creek Inn & Suites, 3300 Drew Avenue, Sandwich, IL 60548. Room rates are $89.00 + tax. To hold the rate, reservations must be made before September 17th, 2010. For reservations, call 630 273-6000. Schedule for 2nd Staff weekend.
- 10/8/2010 - Northwest Suburban Detachment will be holding their 3rd Annual Toys for Tots Dinner and Dance at Manzo's, Elmhurst Rd. and Oakton in Des Plaines. - 10/09/2010 - The West Central Illinois Leathernecks Detachment #1177 will sponsor a chili cook-off at the Triangle Bar & Grill in Woodson, IL with all proceeds to benefit Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. An auction will be held at 1500. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and People's Choice. Prize amounts will be determined by the number of entries. - 11/7/2010 - The Chicago Police Marines will hold their Annual Fund Raiser at the FOP Hall, 1412 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago from 1200 to 1700. Free S.O.S., Chili, Hot Dogs, Beer, Soda and parking. Televised Game will be "Da" Bears vs. the Bills. Donations are $15.00 or $20.00 at the door for Food, Fun and Friendship. Drawing for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes = $500, $300 and $200.
