Department of Maryland Chaplain Lou Stavley receiving a check from DuPage County Commandant Don Haines at Bethesda.	While on a trip to Washington D.C., I met a graduation class from Quantico. I thanked them for continuing the tradition of the United States Marine Corps. The statement was made by a 1^st Lt. that “It would be an easy task” and thanked us because it has been so well taken care of and left in such good shape.

Our own Department Adjutant Karl Bradshaw with Former Iraq POW Jessica Lynch at the Alton, IL VFW. Ms. Lynch was there to raise money to help wounded Marines and Soldiers	Department Commandant Mike Ruffner (R) and Fox Valley Marines Detachment Commandant Ken Havelka during the Charter Presentation.

Our first hosting of Bingo at the Illinois Veterans’ Home – Quincy was well-received, and all detachment and auxiliary members who made the trip truly enjoyed themselves. SHAWNEE UNIT MCLA JOINS THE SHAGBARK GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD WINNERS AS "CALENDAR GIRLS" Since 2003 the Shawnee Unit MCLA has purchased and presented Gold Award pins to the girl scouts who have successfully earned the Gold Awards. IL Department President and Shawnee Unit member, Sue Whitlock presented certificates from the Department and assisted Donna Ketring, Shawnee Unit member and co-leader and cookie manager for Shagbark Council Girl Scouts in presenting the Gold Award pins. This project has been one which the unit feels is money well spent on the leaders of the future.

As Ray Underwood gives the audience an amazing National Anthem the MCL 801 Color guard presents Colors for the Dark Horse Racing events company. Color guard 801 members are Rifleman Butch Torkelson and Russ Dusak with flag holders USA John Pickelman, USMC Art Castillo and POW/MIA Tom Mann all United State Marine Veterans.
